Add, Edit, or Hide ROOMS

This article describes how to add a new room, or edit or hide an existing room.

In SiD terms, a "room" is the actual room name/number within a building where classes occur. Each SiD subsite must have at least one room. Room name examples: Computer Lab; 141; Testing; CC115; max security.

Best practice: create a separate room for each location within a building where students meet.

Users must have Admin level login privileges to add, edit, or hide rooms.

Add a new room

  1. Click the Admin tab. Then click "Manage Sub Sites."
  2. The Sub Site summary on the next screen will show all subsites that already exist. Click the Rooms link at the end of the desired subsite row to select it.

The newly added room will be linked to the subsite selected in Step 2.

Note: To move an existing class to a newly created subsite/room, you will need to edit the class setup. See Move Class to Another Subsite/Room.

Edit an existing room

Editing a room will retroactively change information. The newly edited room will still be associated the with same classes and subsite as before.

  1. Click the Admin tab. Then click "Manage Sub Sites."
  2. The Sub Sites summary on the next screen will show all subsites that already exist. Click the Rooms link at the end of the desired subsite row to see rooms linked to the subsite.

Rooms can be hidden even when current classes are associated with them. Old class references will appear on the Classes tab and Classes>Summary screen until a new Subsite/Room is selected from the Classes>Summary, Edit screen, Room menu.
