Q: We have a class that needs some changes to the days and times. Should we edit the existing class? Or should we end the old class and create a new one with the new schedule?
A: Every program and class situation is different. It's hard to give one-size-fits-all guidance. Here's our best advice.
- If your schedule change is a small fine-tuning adjustment, edit the existing class*. Examples of small changes would be adding a class day or altering the time for one day of the week.
- For a bigger overhaul, end the class and start another. Examples: the class is moving from morning to afternoon. Or you're reworking two or more class days and times.
The bigger the schedule change, the more you should think about closing the class and creating a new one.
*Any edits you make to the schedule should be from today's date forward. If student hours have been entered for the class, you can run into trouble backdating schedule changes.
