FAQ: Why Does Person Search Show Multiple Rows for the Same Person?

Q: In Person Search, I typed a search term. The same student appears more than once in the Match List results. But the badge ID is the same. What's going on?

A: SiD will show all records that contain your search term. This may include one or more variations of the person's name or an email address on the same record.

As long as the Badge ID is the same on all rows, you're looking at matching details on a single student record. There's no need to Person Merge or otherwise "fix" anything.

Example

Below are the results for the search term "hinda." All 4 rows in the Match List show the same badge ID.

The Search Category column tells where the match occurred:

  • 3 rows show a variation of the student name that contains "hinda."
  • 1 row shows an email address for the same person. It also contains "hinda."

Here's how each match looks on the student record, Students>Info screen:

  • The Name section shows the 3 names associated with the student. They all contain the search term "hinda."

  • The Email section shows the email address that contains "hinda."
