End a Non-NRS Student History Item

Updated 3/6/2024

This article tells how to edit or remove a non-NRS history item when the tag no longer applies to a student.

NOTE: The non-NRS tag is in effect for the entire contact year (May 1-Apr 30) or NRS program year (Jul 1-Jun 30).

It is not possible to "turn off" a student's non-NRS status in the middle of the year. Instead, a history item must be

  • edited to end in a prior contact/program year or
  • removed entirely from a student record.

Should I edit or remove a history row?

  • EDIT the most recent non-NRS row when the Effective Date was in a PRIOR contact/NRS program year and there is no End Date.
  • REMOVE the most recent non-NRS row when the Effective Date was in the CURRENT contact/NRS program year.

EDIT a non-NRS history row by adding an End Date

IMPORTANT: Do not change the Effective Date. Instead, add an End Date to the history row.

You can edit non-NRS history items for shared students. It doesn't matter if the history row was added by your program or another.

  1. From the Students tab, choose the name of the desired student. Go to the History tab.
  2. From the History Group menu, choose Program - NRS. Matching history rows will appear.
  3. Select the most recent Non-NRS row. In the edit screen that appears, add the appropriate End Date. Use 4/30/XX for the last day of the last Contact Hours year, or 6/30/xx for the last day of the last NRS Program year. Email us at sidsupport@literacymn.org for help choosing the correct date.
  4. Click Save Changes

REMOVE a non-NRS history row when the history item was created in the CURRENT reporting year

Note: you cannot remove (delete) a non-NRS history item created by another site. We recommend that you contact the program that created the history item and ask them to remove the history row.

  1. From the Students tab, choose the name of the desired student. Go to the History tab.
  2. From the History Group menu, choose Program - NRS. Matching history rows will appear.
  3. Select the most recent Non-NRS row. In the Edit screen that appears, click the Remove this History link* and follow the prompts.

*If the Remove this History link is not visible, contact the ABE program that created the history item. Ask them to remove the non-NRS history item.
