NRS Primary Goals Report

Run this report regularly to make sure students have been given credit for passing the GED or diploma. It is found on the Reports tab>Outcome Reports section, NRS Primary Goals report.

The report looks for students:

  • with NRS hours between the Report Year Start and End Dates (yellow highlight below) and
  • with a GED, diploma, or post-secondary training history item Effective Date between the Goal Effective Start and End Dates (green highlight below).

For best results when checking student outcomes, run the report for Enrollees (All Students) with a Goal Status of MET. This will show successful students who have at least some attendance, but not necessarily 12+ hours.

When running the program year report for MDE, select Participants.

GED 2014 Passed - MDE Match

Students who appear in this section are the result of automated GED data matching. Note: GED match counts are unrelated to the Students>History Personal Goal of "obtain GED."

  • Click open the + symbol. Does it show all students who passed the GED during the report date ranges?
  • If not, send us the names of students who are missing (support@mnabe.org). We will see if we can find out why the match didn’t happen. Then we will likely need your help to adjust the SiD record.

Local Credit Based Diploma

  • Click open the + symbol. Does it show all students who earned a local credit based diploma during the report date ranges?
  • If not, find a list of students who earned the local credit based diploma. For each student, go to the Students>History tab.
  • Add an NRS Primary Goal>Local Credit Based Diploma history item. For the Effective Date, use the student’s graduation date, not today’s date. Be sure to use a Status of MET; save.

  • Re-run the NRS Primary Goals report to see if the student appears now.

State Competency Based Diploma

  • Click open the + symbol. Does it show all students who earned a state competency based diploma during the report date ranges?
  • If not, find a list of students who earned the state competency based diploma. For each student, go to the Students>History tab.
  • Add an NRS Primary Goal>State Competency Based Diploma history item. For the Effective Date, use the student’s graduation date, not today’s date. Be sure to use a Status of MET; save.

  • Re-run the NRS Primary Goals report to see if the student appears now.

Post-secondary Training

This is a gray area. We are required to track people in this NRS category, but there isn’t federal guidance on this term or how it differs from post-secondary education. Our thinking: Post-secondary training leads to a vocational certificate. Post-secondary education (which is data matched) leads to a degree. It is not a high stakes category.
